Feeling Spiritual?

We were watching a superhero movie the other night. (So super spiritual, I know! ;>)

There was this moment in the film when the hero was his human self. And, in the blink of an eye, he was then his superhero self. I heard Holy Spirit speaking.

How easily are you able to be in your spirit?

Are you able to simply connect, like the switching on of a light? Or is there some vehicle you need (like prayer or fasting or worship) to get into your spirit? Have you ever even realised that this is what’s happening?

I was taught that worship was for showing God we love Him. But I have learned that worshipping God is as much for us as it is for Him. It’s a way of ‘connecting’ to the spirit realm. We worship Him in spirit and in truth; we literally get into our spirits, into the spirit realm, and worship him with everything we have, joining with him in that realm.

I was also taught that prayer was to partner with God to pray His will onto earth (as well as to present my shopping list of requests…). But I learned that praying is also just talking to God spirit to spirit. (And like with any good conversation, we need to listen as much as we need to talk…)

I was taught all about fasting, taking communion, reading His word, speaking in tongues, having fellowship, bible study… all these things and their various benefits.

But the revvy finally hit, that these are all good for what they’re good for, but they are all ways to enter into and release the spirit, to build the spirit up, to practice getting ‘into the spirit’.

And the revvy goes deeper.

I have learned that being ‘in the spirit’ doesn’t require any of these things. Not at all.

(Boy, I wish someone taught me that from Day 1! ;>)

Once we come to recognise when we are ‘in the spirit’, we should be able to just BE in the spirit whenever we want to.

And, then the next step is: we can learn to LIVE in the spirit 24/7, if we so desire.

Once you have the realisation that you can access it whenever, it’s a choice in which realm to live. This visible one of the flesh and soul. Or the real but invisible-to-the-eye spirit realm.

Oh, the fruits of living in the spirit, of living out of your spirit, 24/7!

Life has a different pace. A different purpose. You pause and respond via spirit, rather than react via ingrained memory-based soulish or fleshly reactions.

You exhibit true love and joy and peace to the world around you. You just love people like Papa loves them, as you feel His Spirit feelings for mankind.

And sin loses its flavour and is less and less tempting with each passing day.

In the spirit, you can remain in constant communion with the trinity, in a constant awareness of His presence living inside of you. It’s delicious. It’s intoxicating. It is so not how the world sees things, seeing things through the eyes of the Father.

I sometimes get so into my spirit on the train journey to work, I think I must become invisible, because people start trying to walk through me once I get off the train. ;>)

With a little practice, it’s easy. Just… let your spirit out. Hold your hands out in front of you and imagine expanding your spirit. It’s a faith exercise. The more often you do it, the more you believe it, the easier it is. You can get to the point where you can be ‘in the spirit’ at will. You can carry the Presence with you wherever you go, and people WILL notice something…

Having trouble with that one? Ok. Try this:

Ian Clayton talks about Hebrews 4:12, God’s Word is sharper than a 2-edged sword, able to divide soul and spirit… By faith, lift up your bible over your head and pronounce that the Word of God is sharp and able to divide soul and spirit, then slice your bible down in an arc across the front of your body, and by faith, believe that you have just divided the two, releasing the spirit to be alive and free, devoid of soulish trappings…

It’s amazing. It may not happen the first time, or even the 39th time you do this exercise. But as your faith begins to grow, you one day just believe that the Word of God has done its job, and suddenly you find that your spirit is free, unfettered. And you are able to not only ‘let it out’… you’re able to recognise when you’re ‘in the spirit’ and not.

Once you can do this, you’ll find you can expand your spirit over people, areas, regions, countries… to pray His presence and influence over… whatever. It’s amazing.

You can take people you love into your heart and wrap them in God. (Great for helping to get unsaved family members saved! ;>)

So, are you feeling spiritual?

Why not?

Why not start today?

Be encouraged. Be empowered. Be delivered.
